Parent & Family Assistance
Easterseals North Georgia provides parent education, job training, GED and ESL classes to the families of the enrolled children. We are dedicated to providing low-income children and their families with the knowledge, skills, and tools to be healthy, happy, and successful. At our 12 child development centers, we have Family Service Advocates who work to make sure that we strengthen our families’ capacities by helping families set goals, create an action plan and achieve self-sufficiency. They work with participants to address any barriers they may face in their journey to success and any referrals for services the family may need.
Each center holds monthly parent trainings on various topics from family engagement in their children’s education, mental health, financial literacy, health screenings, housing issues and topics parents would like to address based on assessments conducted at the beginning of the year.
To foster social engagement and leadership skills each center has a parent committee and members of the organization’s policy council who influence the organization’s goals, objectives, and strategic direction. Every year parents nominate and vote for their peers to represent the center’s interests and concerns.
